Appearance:	House is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and somewhat lanky, with short, scruffy brown hair, and a constant 5 o'clock shadow. From how he dresses, it's pretty clear that he doesn't care much about his clothing. His usual attire is a wrinkled t-shirt, a blazer that is one size too small for him, jeans, and old sneakers. His most distinguishing characteristic is the fact that he walks with a cane, and has a heavy limp on his right leg, as he suffered from an infarction in his leg, and thanks to the procedure that saved his life, he has chronic pain in that leg, as well as decreased use of it.
Personality:	House has been described by various people as moody, bitter, antagonistic, misanthropic, cynical, grumpy, and a curmudgeon. While those are all accurate descriptions, they don't really get into the true character of House. Many people who have talked to him and know a little of his background assume that he became his current self because of the chronic pain in his leg; however, the people who have known him the longest will attest to the fact that he was that way before the problem with his leg, and the leg just made it worse. He has a cunning and biting wit, and he enjoys picking people apart, and mocking their weaknesses. He is also an atheist, openly mocking patients and colleagues alike who express any belief in religion. He has a tendency to self-experiment, and submit himself to risky procedures to try to figure out what is wrong with his patients, to the extent of self-inducing a migraine, giving himself a tainted blood transfusion, and overdosing himself on physostigmine to improve his memory, causing himself to go into cardiac arrest. While many doctors have a "messiah complex" -- i.e., they want to save the world -- House has a "Rubik's complex" -- he needs to solve the puzzle. This leads partially to his unusual, even hostile bedside manner, and him taking as long as possible before he decides to actually meet his patients. He tends to disbelieve everything everyone tells him at first, sticking to the motto "Everyone lies". He is also addicted to Vicodin, which he started taking to control the chronic pain in his leg, and soon became a dependency for him. He has attempted to detox a few times, but each attempt so far has failed.
Abilities:	While he possesses a keen mind, and a biting intellect, as well as an almost encyclopedic knowledge of infectious diseases, he has no superhuman abilities.
Manhattanite or outsider?	While he lives in Princeton, New Jersey, House was in Manhattan for a medical conference at the time of the attack, and so ended up trapped on the island after the tunnels and bridges were shut down.
History:	House was born in 1959, and moved around a lot as a kid due to his father being a Marine Corps pilot. He discovered his life's calling while they were stationed in Japan, where he saw the respect given to a buraku doctor who solved a case that no other doctor was able to solve. He always hated his father, but loved his mother dearly. He started studying medicine at Johns Hopkins University, and was up for a scholarship at the Mayo Clinic, before he was caught cheating by a fellow student, which ended up with him being expelled. He transferred to the University of Michigan to finish his medical studies. Approximately 5 years ago, he suffered an infarction in his right leg due to an aneurysm that clotted, causing muscle mass in his quadriceps to become necrotic. He opted for a life-threatening procedure to save the use of his leg, but while he was in a medically-induced coma to sleep through the pain, his girlfriend Stacy, acting as his medical proxy, opted for a safer procedure; however, that caused the partial loss of use of his leg, and saddled him with chronic pain for the rest of his life, for which he never forgave her. Since then, he has been working at Princeton Plainsboro Hospital as the chief of diagnostic medicine. At the time of the Cloverfield attack, he was in Manhattan for a medical conference, and so became trapped on the island after the tunnels and bridges were disconnected from the mainland. He was seriously injured in the attack, and has spent a great deal of time in the still-standing portion of a hospital, treating himself for his injuries, and has just about fully recovered.
